Position Summary:
The Piano Star Coach will provide engaging and age-appropriate piano instruction to students ages 6–17 in both group and one-on-one settings. The ideal candidate will not only have a strong foundation in piano performance and theory but will also be passionate about nurturing creativity, confidence, and musical excellence in youth. Instruction will include beginner through advanced piano levels.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Vocal Coach to support choral rehearsals, musical theatre productions, and student performances. Experience with choral accompaniment and collaborative music-making is essential. This role plays a vital part in preparing students for recitals, showcases, and musical theatre performances, and other featured works.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced piano students using a structured yet flexible curriculum.

Incorporate sight-reading, music theory, improvisation, and ear training into lessons.

Accompany vocal rehearsals and choral performances as needed.

Work closely and collaboratively with the Vocal Coach to prepare students for joint performances.

Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.

Support students in recital, audition, and performance preparation.

Maintain lesson plans and track student progress.

Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and leadership about student growth.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of piano teaching experience (youth experience preferred).

Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and both classical and contemporary repertoire.

Experience accompanying choirs, vocalists, and ensembles is required.

Ability to teach and inspire students at all skill levels, including advanced pianists.

Enthusiastic, patient, and passionate about youth development through the arts.

Degree in music or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Background check required.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with various genres (gospel, R&B, pop, and musical theatre )

Comfortable working in a collaborative, performance-driven environment.

Availability for occasional evening and weekend rehearsals or performances.
