Position Summary:
The Fashion Star Coach will lead engaging, hands-on sewing and fashion instruction for students ages 6–17 in both group and one-on-one settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in sewing, garment construction, and basic fashion design, along with a passion for nurturing creativity, confidence, and self-expression in youth.
Beyond technical instruction, the Fashion Star Coach will introduce students to careers in the fashion industry, helping them explore areas such as fashion styling, merchandising, costume design, fashion illustration, and more. This role supports student showcases, performances, and events where costuming or fashion presentation is involved.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach beginner through intermediate sewing techniques, including hand-stitching, machine operation, pattern reading, and garment construction.

Introduce students to the fundamentals of fashion design, including sketching, mood boarding, and creative concept development.

Expose students to various fashion-related careers through project-based learning and discussions.

Assist in the creation of costumes or wardrobe pieces for student showcases, plays, and fashion presentations.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment.

Provide guidance on fabric selection, design choices, and finishing techniques.

Track student progress and adapt lessons based on skill level and interest.

Collaborate with other arts coaches (theatre, dance, music) on interdisciplinary projects involving fashion or costume design.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff about goals and achievements.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in sewing, fashion instruction, or related field (youth experience preferred).

Proficient in sewing machine use, hand-sewing techniques, and basic garment construction.

Strong understanding of fashion as both an art form and an industry.

Ability to engage students of various ages and learning styles.

Passionate about youth empowerment and creative development.

Degree or certification in Fashion Design, Costume Design, or related field preferred.

Background check required.
